Building your Child’s Academic and Social Confidence with our Tutoring Service

We are all aware of how schooling impacts our children’s confidence and self-esteem. We want your child to learn to love learning.

There are many factors in a modern classroom that have both direct and indirect consequences for a child’s wellbeing:

  • Large classroom sizes impacting the individual attention your child receives

  • Low quality teaching that doesn’t differentiate to meet your child’s specific needs or doesn’t challenge your child enough

  • Poor behaviour management that interrupts your child’s learning

  • Staff preoccupied with their own stress and who are overwhelmed by policy and paperwork

  • Resourcing issues impacting the quality of learning experiences your child has access to

  • School leadership distanced themselves from their students

  • Generic testing and exams that your child has not been properly prepared for or contain areas that have not been covered yet by the teacher

  • Homework that doesn’t reflect the recent teaching your child has received

This is where our tutors nurture a dramatic improvement in your child’s confidence by empowering them in their academic and social lives.

State and Skill

Confidence is both a positive state of mind and a skill learned to maintain that positive state of mind.  Skills can be practiced. Everybody has doubts, and those who manage them quickly have developed the ability to control their positive outlook and recognise minor setbacks as opportunities to learn. If a child learns to rely on external praise and encouragement for their confidence, they hand over their power to outside influences.  Our tutors coach your child to believe in their abilities and take on everyday challenges.

Familiarity, consistency and repetition of knowledge and skills reassures a student that they are progressing along the right path. No student can succeed when constantly delivered new concepts beyond their current experience. Our tutors acknowledge the students prior learning and build upon it.

Positive, Appropriate and Specific Praise

We use positive language wherever possible, helping a student correct their errors, and being specific about how they can improve.  We teach that even when we make mistakes, we have opportunities to improve our knowledge.

Replacing Limiting Beliefs

Our tutors avoid words such as ‘can’t’, ‘don’t’, ‘won’t’, ‘shouldn’t’ and ‘never.’ Students are vulnerable and it’s our tutor’s responsibility to be the role-model for learning, not the critic. Great tutors break learning down into small, manageable chunks and use demonstrations and different approaches to explain the details of their topic. We find out what your child doesn’t understand and present clear, concise explanations in various ways until they understand a concept. Our tutors know that if their student isn’t learning, it’s our responsibility to deliver in a way that is conducive our student’s understanding.

Personality and Self Expression

Your child is unique and needs to feel safe to express their opinion at any time. An expression of opinion is way to understand and clarify learning. It’s the sign of deep thinking. Tutoring is not the same role as being a teacher in front of a classroom of 30 students where some order must be maintained, it’s the opportunity for deep learning and for all questions to be pondered and answered.

We guarantee that our tutors will provide:

  • Total focus on your child’s individual needs without the interruptions found in a classroom

  • The right amount of challenge to stretch your child in their learning

  • High quality teaching that engages your child and condenses the time needed to learn a new concept

  • Teachers who love to teach

  • Specific, quality resources to deliver the right learning

  • Bespoke assessment and testing that encourages your child’s confidence, where all content has been covered in previous tutoring sessions

  • Bespoke homework that exactly reflects the teaching and learning in your child’s tutoring session
